Portrait of Shawn Briggs - Merchandising Manager at WCP Solutions in Spokane, Washington16 Years of Building Relationships

This month we’re shining a spotlight on WCP Solutions’ Shawn Briggs, our Spokane division’s Merchandising Manager. Shawn’s attention to detail sets him apart from many. He has accomplished much in his career but he says it’s truly the people that he values working with most and feels privileged to work with some of the finest people throughout the entire company.

Shawn’s WCP Story

Born and raised in Spokane, Shawn got into the paper business through his dad just out of High School.  Spending twelve years on and off at another company, he left the paper business altogether after that for an opportunity in another industry.  A year later, he was laid off and found himself looking for work just before Christmas. A friend of his at WCP told him about an opening and recommended that Shawn apply.  A short while later on Christmas Eve, he found out he’d gotten the job and after enjoying the Holidays with his family, Shawn started at WCP January 2nd, 2003. After two years in Customer Service with the company, he moved into Merchandising and has been there ever since!

What Makes WCP Unique?

Shawn says emphatically, “it’s the people” that make WCP a great company to work for.  He says his crew in Spokane is second to none and he’s fortunate to have a fantastic merchandising team that makes his job a pleasure day in and day out.

He particularly loves those times when he’s working with an account manager on a project and WCP gets the business at the end of the day.  His competitive streak comes out best in those situations and Shawn loves a challenge and especially the win!

Shawn’s Favorite WCP Memories

With 16 years at WCP, Shawn shares his favorite memory:

“It’s hard to pick one – but the customer appreciation events are always fun. One year we had a 50’s theme and we had a car show, with around 30 hot rods. As they were leaving a few of them drove around the building and one guy decides he’s going to roast the tires. He didn’t just do a quick burnout, he left a patch about 20’ long and smoked out the crowd – who went wild. We had only been in our new building a year, so I guess it was christened.”
