Stephanie Quinn at WCP Solutions in Kent, WA

WCP got its start as a paper company back in 1930, and while we have grown into new segments over the years, paper is still at the heart of what we do. Stephanie Quinn, a Sales Manager from our Kent division, is a great example of that legacy in action. With more than four decades in the industry, she brings a deep knowledge of paper, print, and everything else in between. We are honored to feature her in this month’s Employee Spotlight.

Stephanie’s WCP Story

Stephanie joined WCP in 2005, bringing with her two decades of experience in the printing industry. With a strong background in print and paper, she was hired as a Specifications Rep for the printing team in Kent. During her spotlight interview, Stephanie was candid about her initial thoughts on joining WCP: “To be honest, I didn’t think I wanted the job, but I agreed to an interview. Everyone was so nice. About halfway through the interview, I thought, ‘I’d really like to work here.’”

A few years later, when the Specifications Rep position was eliminated, Stephanie transitioned into an Account Manager role. She continued to grow with the company and in 2018, stepped into her current role as Kent Sales Manager. For Stephanie, the variety of the role is one of its greatest appeals. “No day is typical, which is perfect!” she said. Her days may include meeting with Account Managers, helping resolve customer challenges, making customer calls, and collaborating with the Kent leadership team on strategic projects. She also works closely with vendor partners, particularly in printing, paper, and food service, coordinating territory calls, training sessions, and sales meetings.

More About Stephanie

Stephanie was born in Tacoma, Washington, but grew up in Auburn with her family. Growing up, Stephanie had a close relationship with her dad. He passed along the love of hunting, fishing, drawing, and painting to her. “I wanted to do whatever he was doing.” Then when she became a mom, she continued to spend time outdoors. She would take her two daughters camping and hiking when they were growing up. Now, Stephanie’s creative outlet is cooking. She especially loves cooking for her loved ones. “They always accept my dinner invitations!”

Q & A with Stephanie

What is your favorite part of working at WCP?
The people are so great. I always know that whatever challenge I’m presented with, there’s a team of people that have my back and will help me figure it out.

What is one lesson that your current position has taught you?
You can navigate any challenge with the right team of people.

Do you have any advice for new people in the industry who are just starting their careers?
Be curious, ask questions, and say, “yes” when asked to work on a special project. The knowledge you gain will be more comprehensive than what you can learn in a classroom. Being better informed will make you a better team member and can open up pathways in your career that you never expected.

Can you share some of your favorite memories or stories from your time working at WCP?
There are so many! One was when our manager hired a guy in a chicken costume to sing happy birthday to one of our team members. It was set up so the singing chicken arrived during a sales training, and it took several people in coordination to sneak him in, so it’d be a surprise. My co-worker’s reaction was funny, but the truly hilarious part was the covert operation of sneaking a guy in a chicken costume into the building!
