Building a Cold-Chain Wine Shipper with Chill-R

In this video spotlight, we show you how to assemble a cold chain shipper optimized for wine using Chill‑R, a sustainable thermal liner available from IPG and offered by WCP. This solution is designed to keep your wine shipments climate-controlled from warehouse to destination.

Paired with molded pulp trays and gel packs, this complete cold chain solution helps shield your wine from summer heat and winter frost so it arrives safely, season after season.

How to Pack Chill‑R Wine Shipping Box

Here’s a step-by-step guide to building a complete wine shipper:

1. Start with the box: Choose either the six or twelve-bottle shipping box designed to snugly fit our pulp trays and Chill‑R inserts.
2. Insert the Chill‑R panels: Place Insert A so it wraps around three interior sides of the box (the two short sides and the one long side). Then, lay Insert B across the bottom and remaining side wall. When fully packed, Insert B will then fold over top for full insulation coverage.
3. Add the pulp bottle trays: Drop in the base pulp shipper into the bottom of the box, place your wine bottles securely in the individual molded compartments, and cover with the internal pulp wine shipper. Repeat layers until the wine bottles are all packaged.
4. Don’t forget the cooling gel packs: Place them in the cut-out slots on either end of the pulp trays to help stabilize internal temperatures during transit. This is especially important when shipping to warmer climates.
5. Top it off: Use the molded pulp top piece to cushion the bottles in place. Consider adding a custom placard to create a personalized unboxing experience.
