David Howell, WCP Boise, Idaho

At WCP, our strength comes from our people, from the customer service team answering calls to the account managers working on site with customers and the drivers out on the road. In this month’s Employee Spotlight, we’re proud to feature David Howell, one of our dedicated and hardworking drivers from the WCP Boise division. David’s route keeps him on the go, and over the years he’s become a familiar and trusted face to the customers he serves. Through his reliability and commitment, he’s built lasting relationships, and we’re grateful to have him as part of our team.

David’s WCP Story

David’s WCP journey began in February 1998. He joined WCP just two months after his daughter was born, which drew him to the values of a family-owned company, “I chose WCP because it was a family-owned company and not a conglomerate”. For more than 27 years, he has been a valued member of our WCP Boise team, first in the warehouse and now out on the road delivering to customers across his route.

What is that saying, the early bird gets the worm? Well, David does just that. He begins his day at 4 a.m., using the early hours to get a jump on paperwork and help organize delivery routes before loading his truck and heading out to serve customers.

More About David

When he is not behind the wheel of one of our Big Yellow Trucks, David can often be found behind a camera lens or out on the trail. He enjoys photography, hiking, and spending time with his golden retriever, Lily. Whether he is capturing sweeping landscapes or filming drone footage from above, David finds inspiration in the great outdoors. His favorite hiking destination, the Sawtooth Mountains, offers everything he loves most: pristine alpine lakes, rugged peaks, and the quiet company of nature. It is where he feels most grounded and at peace.

Employee Compliments

“David is a star member of our delivery team who is always willing to step in and get things done. Over the summer, we were very short-staffed on drivers, and he gladly stepped in to cover extra deliveries. He is a great customer service ambassador, making sure the orders are correct and the customer is happy. Our customers love him, and he represents the values and ideals of WCP.” – Judy Liedtke, WCP Boise Division Manager

“David has been a valued member of our Boise team for a long time now. He comes in and does his job with a great attitude. He always brings great team vibes and leads by example. He personifies WCP culture and we are glad to have him.” – Justin Overton, Director of Operations

“David has a can-do, will-do attitude. A while back, we were going to be down three of our six drivers for at least three weeks. Concerned about how we were going to service our customers, I went to David to ask for his advice on whether it could be done. His reply was that we can do it. When I asked how, he said “I will make it happen.” With teamwork and a lot of good planning, we survived. Having that can-do will-do attitude paid off. This is the norm for David.” – Bill Gloudeman, WCP Boise Operations Manager
