WCP Celebrates Our 90th Anniversary March 1st, 2020
Yesterday we turned 90 as a company! Here at WCP, we are tremendously excited to celebrate this milestone alongside our employees, our customers, our suppliers, and our friends and to reflect both on the past of our company, as well as looking to the future.
In honor of celebrating 90 years in business, we sat down with some of our company leaders Teresa Russell, Dick Abrams, Tom Groves, and Ed Allen and asked them to reflect on 9 decades as a company and talk about how we do business today and where the company is headed. The video is a true celebration of our family here at WCP.
A Little Bit About the History of WCP Solutions (West Coast Paper)
WCP was Founded by RA (Dick) Abrams on March 1, 1930. We got our start by selling basic packaging supplies such as brown wrapping paper, tying twine and bags to the merchants in Seattle’s Pike Place out of a Ford Model A. Ninety years later, we are still proud to be privately owned by the Abrams family with Third-Generation owner Teresa Russell as our Board Chairperson and self-described “customer enthusiast”.
“Ninety years is certainly a long time for any company to be in business, but for a company to turn ninety, that’s still privately held under the same family ownership means that what we’re doing is working,” reflects Tom Groves, CEO of WCP Solutions.
And as the company celebrates 90 years in business, Dick Abrams, second generation Owner of WCP recalled, “We’ll continue to do business tomorrow, the way we did it yesterday and the way we’re proud to do it today. The company was started as a way to make a living to support a family; now it supports many families.”
Today we have grown beyond what our founders ever thought possible. We have 14 locations across 6 states. With over 150 trucks on the road every day, WCP Solutions is committed to excelling in everything we do.
